Sandfall Interactive eyes Switch 2 port for Clair Obscur while office mirrors game mansion

Sandfall Interactive confirmed it is exploring a Nintendo Switch 2 version of its Unreal Engine 5‑powered RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Studio co‑founder and CTO Tom Guillermin said the port is a “big technical challenge” because the Switch 2’s hardware is less powerful than current consoles, and many UE5 features, including Lumen, do not yet run on the device. The team will depend on upcoming engine updates such as Lumen Lite before deciding on feasibility.

The studio, led by CEO Guillaume Broche, employs about 30 staff and relies heavily on UE5’s Blueprint system to develop the game with a small programming crew. In a separate note, the company’s Montpellier office, dubbed “The Manor,” was recently gifted by the city after a partnership with Kepler Interactive. The building’s design unintentionally resembles the mansion featured in the game, a coincidence the team finds amusing. Broche emphasized the space is meant to feel like a home rather than a formal office, fostering a relaxed, collaborative environment for the developers.
