Sandiip Sikcand addresses Rohit Roy’s ‘dustbin’ remark on television

Producer Sandiip Sikcand has addressed recent controversial comments made by actor Rohit Roy, who described the television medium as a ‘dustbin’. While Sikcand stated he disagrees with Roy’s specific choice of words, he expressed agreement with the underlying sentiment regarding the declining quality of television content.

Sikcand argued that the current state of programming and character development is a result of the existing industry system. He urged decision-makers in Hindi television to address the decline in storytelling quality before the medium becomes difficult to revive. Additionally, Sikcand suggested that the industry should reduce its heavy reliance on remaking regional shows and instead focus on original storytelling to ensure long-term stability.
