Sandipon Garg granted bail in Zubeen Garg death case

The Gauhati High Court has granted bail to Sandipon Garg, a suspended Assam Police DSP and cousin of the late singer Zubeen Garg, in connection with the singer's death in Singapore in September 2025. Garg had been in judicial custody since October 2025 on charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

Garg was among several individuals arrested following the death of the Assamese cultural icon, who died under mysterious circumstances while swimming in the sea during a trip to attend the North East India Festival. Other accused individuals include festival organizer Shyamkanu Mahanta, manager Siddharth Sharma, and band member Amrit Prabha Mahanta, who was previously granted bail by the court.

The court is also scheduled to hear bail applications for other involved parties, including the singer's former personal security officers. The legal proceedings have drawn significant public attention and emotional responses from the deceased singer's family regarding the progress of the investigation.
