SanDisk to release 512GB microSD Express Card for Nintendo Switch 2

SanDisk will release a 512GB microSD Express Card officially licensed for the Nintendo Switch 2 on October 1, 2026. This new capacity option joins the existing 256GB lineup produced by Samsung and SanDisk.

Unlike previous Nintendo consoles, the Switch 2 requires the high-speed microSD Express standard, which utilizes PCI Express technology to provide faster data transfer rates. This makes external storage essential as the console's internal memory cannot be expanded.

The 512GB SanDisk model features a unique design, including a Fire Flower icon engraved on the card and Fire Mario artwork on the packaging. While the 256GB licensed models have been noted for their competitive pricing, the 512GB version is expected to be priced higher, with pre-order listings on platforms like Amazon appearing at approximately 28,980 yen.
