Sandomierz Cathedral hosts Gregorian chant concert

The Schola Gregoriana Sandomiriensis performed a Gregorian chant concert at the Sandomierz Cathedral Basilica on August 16, 2026. The performance featured compositions from a 15th-century manuscript originally held within the temple.

These specific musical works had not been performed for centuries due to the liturgical unification following the Council of Trent in the 16th century. The six-member ensemble, led by conductor and founder Tomasz Sokołowski, aimed to rediscover and revive these local melodies that were historically heard by both royalty and townspeople.

Parish priest Jacek Marchewka expressed openness to future performances, noting the profound silence and atmosphere maintained by the audience during the event.
