Sandown to host Group 3 Carlyon Stakes as Moonee Valley undergoes transformation

The Group 3 Carlyon Stakes, a 1000m sprint, will be held at Sandown this Saturday due to track reconfiguration at Moonee Valley. The race has been upgraded from Listed level this year.

Beast Mode, trained by the Lindsay Park team, enters the race with a weight drop to 57kg. Despite the change in venue from Moonee Valley, the horse has a strong record at Sandown, having finished in the money in three of its four previous starts at the track.

Cavalry Girl, trained by Tom Dabernig, is also being prepared for the event as a potential stepping stone toward the Group 1 Moir Stakes, which will also be held at Sandown two weeks later. Dabernig noted the mare is in exceptional form following recent victories at Morphettville and Caulfield Heath.
