Sandra Hüller to star in Paweł Pawlikowski film Fatherland

German actress Sandra Hüller is set for a prolific 2026, featuring in several high-profile projects including the blockbuster Project Hail Mary and the film Digger.

She will also star in Fatherland, a historical drama directed by Polish filmmaker Paweł Pawlikowski. Set in 1949 during the early stages of the division between East and West Germany, the film follows Erika Mann, played by Hüller, as she accompanies her father, the writer Thomas Mann, on a journey through a post-war landscape. The narrative explores the moral and diplomatic complexities of the era, featuring characters such as a CIA spy and an American reporter.

Hüller, who grew up in East Germany, noted that the film expresses a specific sense of grief that is more deeply felt by those from the former East.
