Sandridge Barton appoints new head winemaker at 45-year milestone

Sandridge Barton, a vineyard in South Hams, is marking 45 years of winemaking at its Dart Valley estate. As part of this milestone, the company has appointed Charlie Brown as the new Head Winemaker.

Brown, who joined the estate in 2014 as a Cellar Hand and was promoted to Assistant Winemaker in 2020, succeeds Duncan Schwab. Schwab will remain with the company as Chief Executive. Brown has previously worked in Australia and South Africa and contributed to the estate’s ‘Don’t Feed the Ponies’ and Single Vineyard ranges.

The leadership transition occurs as the vineyard begins its autumn harvest following an unusually hot summer.
