Goiânia Mayor pushes for real estate fund to address pension deficit
In Goiânia, Mayor Sandro Mabel is pressuring the Municipal Chamber to expedite the approval of a real estate fund project. The fund aims to utilize municipal properties for private partnerships to generate revenue to address the GoiâniaPrev pension deficit, which the mayor reports costs approximately R$ 2 million per day, totaling R$ 600 million annually.
Legislators have raised concerns regarding transparency, requesting a specific list of properties to be included in the fund to prevent the loss of land intended for public services like schools and parks. Meanwhile, the Municipal Court of Accounts (TCM-GO) has issued a cautionary ruling preventing the Goiânia administration from reducing healthcare shifts or services due to budget limits on contracted professionals.
In Aparecida de Goiânia, construction has begun on a R$ 22.1 million road project connecting the Norberto Teixeira Agroindustrial District (Dianot) to the GO-020 highway. The 3.84 km project includes road duplication, a bridge, and pedestrian paths. The infrastructure is expected to facilitate industrial expansion and is projected to attract significant private investment and job creation.
