Sandro Mamukelashvili leads Georgia to victory over Israel

Sandro Mamukelashvili, a recent addition to the Los Angeles Lakers, recorded 20 points, six rebounds, six assists, and three steals to help Georgia defeat Israel 101-90 in an exhibition match. The game, held at the Otar Korkia and Nodar Jorjikia Tbilisi Sports Palace, served as preparation for the second round of the 2027 FIBA World Cup qualifiers.

In addition to Mamukelashvili’s performance, six Georgian players scored in double figures, including Goga Bitadze, who contributed 22 points and eight rebounds. Georgia is currently positioned in a competitive group alongside Spain, Ukraine, Montenegro, Greece, and Portugal. The top three teams in the group will advance to the World Cup.

Georgia’s upcoming schedule includes a qualifying match against Montenegro followed by a game against Portugal. Mamukelashvili’s participation in these qualifiers is limited due to the upcoming NBA season.
