Sandro Mencucci resigns as US Lecce CEO

Sandro Mencucci, the former chief executive of Italian Serie A club US Lecce, submitted his resignation on Tuesday, announcing it via a personal Instagram post and an email to the club. In his farewell message he thanked the club, its supporters and President Saverio Sticchi Damiani, noting the achievements made since his appointment in May 2022 and wishing the team continued success.

The reasons for Mencucci’s departure have not been disclosed. The resignation comes as a surprise, following the earlier exit of former sporting director Pantaleo Corvino and after Mencucci had recently spoken publicly without hinting at a forthcoming exit. The club’s ownership has not yet commented on the next steps for the executive role.
