Sandro Tonali faces scrutiny following £100m Tottenham Hotspur move

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Sandro Tonali has faced scrutiny following a difficult start to the season and a high-profile £100m transfer fee. Agent Giuseppe Riso revealed that manager Roberto De Zerbi secured the signing through personal diplomacy, including a direct visit to the player's home to emphasize Tonali's importance as a leader for the club.

Despite criticism regarding the club's summer recruitment, De Zerbi has expressed confidence in the 26-year-old's ability to succeed. Tonali recently participated in Italy's UEFA Nations League campaign, appearing in four matches. His involvement drew comments from former player Chris Waddle, who described the decision to play him in all matches following reports of a minor injury as ‘bizarre’.
