Sandro Tonali's Tottenham Transfer Sparks Brescia-FIFA Payment Dispute

Midfielder Sandro Tonali confirmed his move to Tottenham Hotspur, saying a brief conversation convinced him the English club was the right step for his career and family. He noted that he and his wife had planned to return to Italy, but financial constraints made the move to England the only viable option.

The transfer has triggered a legal dispute over the €4 million solidarity payment that Brescia Calcio is entitled to receive. Former Brescia president Massimo Cellino warned that the funds may be diverted to a FIFA solidarity fund instead of the club, which was recently re‑registered after liquidation to claim the money. Cellino announced he will appeal the decision, arguing it harms the club’s creditors.
