Sanepar begins reimbursements for Ponta Grossa water crisis
Sanepar, the Paraná Sanitation Company, has begun reimbursing residents of Ponta Grossa for expenses incurred during a water supply crisis in early 2026. The crisis, which involved tap water with unpleasant taste and odor, prompted a settlement with the Public Ministry of Paraná.
To receive reimbursement for material damages, such as emergency mineral water purchases, residents must present receipts or invoices dated between January 26 and February 28, 2026. Applications must be submitted in person at one of the company’s two relationship centers in the city, located in the Center and the Santa Paula neighborhood. Once processed, payments will be made to the customer's bank account within 30 days.
Additionally, Sanepar will pay R$ 5 million in compensation to the Municipal Fund for Diffuse Rights of Ponta Grossa. This amount is intended to address collective and individual moral damages and must be used for projects related to education, consumer protection, and defense.
