Sanepar reports Q2 2026 net loss of R$ 505 million
Sanepar (Companhia de Saneamento do Paraná) reported a net loss of R$ 505.2 million for the second quarter of 2026, a reversal from the R$ 263.8 million profit recorded during the same period in 2025. The loss was driven by a complementary accounting entry for regulatory liabilities related to IRPJ court orders and the decision not to distribute interest on equity for the first half of 2026.
Despite the net loss, the company's net revenue rose 11.5% to R$ 1.90 billion. Water revenue increased by 10.3% to approximately R$ 1.2 billion, while sewage revenue grew 12.6% to R$ 779 million. The company's net debt decreased by 51.2% to R$ 2.59 billion.
On the consumer side, Pix has emerged as the preferred payment method for Sanepar customers. As of 2025, Pix accounted for 31% of total collections, surpassing barcode payments at lottery agencies (21%) and online platforms (18%). The company attributes this to the ease of using QR codes on digital and printed invoices and the security of the integrated payment model.
