Sanepid inspections find 97 percent of Polish summer holiday programs safe

The State Sanitary Inspection (Sanepid) conducted inspections of 10,869 summer holiday programs across Poland, covering 32 percent of all programs registered in the Ministry of Education database. The audit found that 97 percent of the facilities provided safe conditions for children and youth.

Out of 33,983 total registered programs involving 563,462 children, irregularities were identified in 3 percent of inspected cases. Authorities issued 283 administrative decisions to rectify issues, with 203 specifically related to food safety and nutrition. Additionally, 171 fines totaling 48,450 PLN were issued for various violations.

In instances of suspected food poisoning, epidemiological investigations were launched, including food sampling and surface testing. Cases involving unregistered or 'wild' holiday programs were referred to education superintendents.
