Sangüesa municipal hostel management sparks political dispute

A political dispute has emerged in Sangüesa regarding the management and service conditions of the municipal pilgrim hostel. The Mancomunidad de la Comarca de Sangüesa, which manages the facility through social services, reported that service conditions had deteriorated due to a broken washing machine and a shortage of both cloth and disposable sheets.

On September 29, the Mancomunidad decided to stop answering the hostel's dedicated telephone line and moved the reception duties to municipal offices, citing an inability to provide adequate service. Aitor Sola Ochotea, president of the Mancomunidad, stated that the decision was made because providing service under those conditions was impossible.

In response, Sangüesa Mayor Javier Solozábal filed a formal complaint against the Mancomunidad, criticizing the unilateral interruption of habitual service. The City Council argued that the request for replacement sheets arrived too late and that a delivery was already scheduled for September 30. The Mayor has requested that the cost of the unprovided service be deducted from the fees paid by the City Council to the Mancomunidad.
