Sangihe Islands Regency pushes for expanded financial access and KUR credit

The Sangihe Islands Regency government is strengthening strategies to expand financial access through the Regional Financial Access Acceleration Team (TPAKD). During a plenary meeting held on September 15, 2026, Regent Michael Thungari emphasized that financial inclusion programs must move beyond administrative agendas and ceremonial activities to provide tangible economic benefits to the community.

Thungari is actively encouraging banking institutions, including Bank SulutGo, BRI, and Bank Mandiri, to simplify the distribution of People's Business Credit (KUR). This initiative aims to expand capital access for MSMEs, farmers, and local fishermen, with a specific focus on optimizing the region's significant maritime and aquaculture potential.

Robert Sianipar, Head of OJK for North Sulawesi and Gorontalo, noted that TPAKD is expected to be a primary contributor to achieving an inclusive and productive regional economy through cross-sector synergy.
