Petrol bomb attack on BJP office in Sangrur, Punjab

Around 3 a.m. on 27 July 2026 a glass bottle filled with petrol was hurled at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) district office in Sangrur, Punjab, leaving burn marks on the outer wall but causing no injuries. Police officials, led by SP‑D Davinder Atri, secured the site, lodged an FIR and began a probe, including forensic sampling and review of CCTV footage to identify the attacker(s). The party’s state president Kewal Singh Dhillon and leader Randeep Singh Deol condemned the incident, accusing the AAP‑led state government of “jungle raj” and linking the attack to a prior assault on a BJP office in Chandigarh earlier in the year. Authorities said the device was made by filling petrol into a beer bottle and was thrown from outside the compound wall.
