Sanitary conditions spark complaints in Banja Luka and Zagreb
Public facilities in Banja Luka and Zagreb are facing scrutiny following reports of poor hygiene and maintenance. In Banja Luka’s Mladen Stojanović Park, visitors have reported unpleasant odors and a lack of pricing information on the automated toilet payment machine, forcing users to rely on trial and error to gain entry.
The City Administration’s Department for Communal Affairs stated that the facility is maintained twice daily, attributing recurring issues to vandalism rather than neglect.
In Zagreb, the Gajnice Health Center has acknowledged reports of catastrophic sanitary conditions within its family medicine department. The administration of the Zagreb-West Health Center confirmed the poor state of the facilities and announced that remediation measures have been initiated in cooperation with the City of Zagreb. Officials noted that many of the institution's 35 facilities are older buildings requiring significant investment to meet hygiene standards.
