Sanitation workers end strike in Delhi following worker's death
Sanitation workers in east Delhi have ended a three-day strike following the stabbing death of 27-year-old Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) worker Anil Kumar. The agitation, which began on Sunday, disrupted garbage collection services across parts of east and northeast Delhi.
The workers' union demanded ₹1 crore in compensation and a government job for the victim's relatives. While services and auto-tipper operations resumed on Wednesday, union members stated they would continue to pursue their demands.
The strike was called off following the detention of AAP MLA Kuldeep Kumar. The victim's family has raised serious allegations regarding the handling of the investigation, claiming they were not consulted before the post-mortem and were pressured into signing documents by police during a midnight visit to their home.
