Sanjа Božinovska links cybersecurity to energy security
Sanjа Božinovska, the Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources, emphasized that cybersecurity must be an integral part of the modernization of the energy sector. Speaking at a seminar regarding the digitalization of public administration, she noted that as energy grids and infrastructure become increasingly digitalized, protecting them from cyber threats becomes essential for national energy security.
Božinovska highlighted that digitalization facilitates better management of energy systems, more efficient consumption monitoring, and optimized production. However, she warned that increased connectivity introduces new risks, making the resilience of critical energy infrastructure against cyberattacks a priority. The seminar also focused on opportunities for further cooperation between North Macedonia and the Czech Republic in the fields of cybersecurity, knowledge exchange, and institutional capacity building.
