Sanjay Gandhi Hospital under scrutiny for alleged medical negligence in Rewa

Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, is facing allegations of medical negligence after an 18-year-old man, identified as Ayush Singh, was reportedly administered an injection intended for snakebites instead of an anti-rabies vaccine following a dog bite.

The patient claims he clearly informed hospital staff about the dog bite. However, his medical prescription recorded a history of ‘H/O U/K Snake Bite’ (history of unknown snakebite). While the prescription listed several injections, it did not explicitly mention anti-snake venom or an anti-rabies vaccine. The patient realized the discrepancy after returning to his village and consulting local residents.

Although the patient did not experience immediate health complications from the incorrect treatment, he intends to file a formal complaint via the CM Helpline. Hospital Superintendent Dr. Priyank Sharma stated that the matter will be investigated and appropriate action will be taken if negligence is confirmed.
