Sanjay Mishra: From working at a dhaba to Bollywood comeback

Actor Sanjay Mishra experienced a significant career hiatus following the death of his father. Overwhelmed by grief, he left the film industry in Mumbai and moved to Rishikesh, where he lived in anonymity and worked at a roadside eatery (dhaba), performing tasks such as washing dishes and making omelets.

His return to cinema was facilitated by director Rohit Shetty, who sought him out for a role in the film ‘All the Best’. Mishra made his comeback in 2009 with that film, subsequently establishing himself in various roles in movies such as ‘Masaan’ and ‘Aankhon Dekhi’.
