Sanjay Raut defends Vijay Mallya in new book
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut has sparked political debate through excerpts from his upcoming 17th book, titled ‘Bodhkirtan’. In a chapter titled ‘Mallya ki Kahani’, Raut defends businessman Vijay Mallya, disputing the label of fugitive or fraud.
Raut, who claims to have known Mallya personally through encounters in Parliament, describes him as a sociable, cheerful, and patriotic individual. He argues that Mallya had no intention of defrauding anyone and suggests that banks should have provided assistance when Kingfisher Airlines faced business failure and debt issues. Raut further alleges that the Narendra Modi government created circumstances that forced Mallya to leave the country.
In a separate chapter titled ‘Deepstambh’, Raut offers praise for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s non-political speeches. While noting that Modi’s political rhetoric may not always be meaningful, Raut describes his non-political addresses, such as those during the Ayodhya Deepotsav, as emotionally resonant and well-crafted.
