Sanjay Raut sparks political row over Albania protest remarks
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut has sparked a political controversy following a social media post regarding violent anti-government protests in Albania. In the post, Raut claimed that protesters in Albania burned down the country’s Supreme Court due to allegations that the court was shielding a corrupt prime minister. He suggested that all countries, “especially India”, should learn a lesson from these events.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has responded sharply, accusing the Opposition of encouraging anarchy and threatening India’s constitutional institutions. BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari alleged that the Congress-led alliance is envisioning chaos, while other leaders characterized the remarks as a threat to sovereignty and democracy.
Raut has since clarified his position, stating that he has faith in the Indian judiciary and that his comments were intended as a warning rather than a threat. This incident occurs while Raut is already facing contempt proceedings in the Supreme Court of India related to previous remarks concerning the Chief Justice.
