Sanju Samson struggles in India's T20I against West Indies
During the first T20I against the West Indies in Lucknow, Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir showed visible frustration following a low score from batter Sanju Samson. Samson was dismissed for 11 runs off nine balls in the fourth over after being caught by Akeal Hosein.
This performance marks Samson's fourth consecutive low score in T20I cricket, following unsuccessful outings in the Asian Games 2026 and matches against Japan and Pakistan. The continued struggle of the senior batter has drawn scrutiny toward Gambhir's decision to favor Samson over Vaibhav Suryavanshi in the starting lineup.
