Sankt Augustin Begins Major Road and Sewer Works on Sonnenweg

From 10 August 2026 the city of Sankt Augustin will carry out extensive road, canal and utility construction on the Sonnenweg in the Sankt Augustin‑Ort district. The works, scheduled to run until December 2026, will close the entire Sonnenweg to traffic, while a pedestrian route to the police station remains open. New drinking‑water pipes will be installed by Wasserversorgungs‑GmbH Sankt Augustin, followed by renewal of a section of the existing sewer and the installation of new street lighting. After the underground works, the street will be rebuilt with a 6 m wide asphalt carriageway, a central gutter, and a 2.5 m barrier‑free sidewalk. A temporary access road for emergency vehicles will be provided behind the police building, and detours for cyclists and pedestrians will be sign‑posted. Construction will take place on weekdays between 07:00 and 17:00, and residents are asked to tolerate the disruptions.
