Sanlúcar la Mayor judge dismisses investigation into Casa de Alba wells

A judge in Sanlúcar la Mayor has ordered the dismissal of an investigation into up to eight unauthorized wells located on the Aljóbar estate in Aznalcázar, which is linked to the Casa de Alba.

The court ruled that there is no evidence proving that the water extractions posed a serious threat to the environment or the local aquifer. Consequently, the judge has lifted precautionary measures and ordered the unsealing of the wells. Technical reports indicated that the aquifer has been in good condition according to hydrological plans since 2021, and no significant negative impact on water flow or quality was established.

The investigation was originally launched following a complaint by the Prosecutor's Office regarding potential environmental crimes. The environmental group Ecologistas en Acción has announced its intention to appeal the decision.
