Sanlúcar Mayor Launches Sign Language Service and Prepares for Major Horse Racing Festival

Mayor Carmen Álvarez announced a new municipal sign‑language interpretation service in Sanlúcar, partnering with the Association of Deaf Persons Guadalquivir (Apesorgu). The service will provide interpretation for municipal procedures, institutional events, and cultural activities, aiming to improve accessibility for the deaf community. Apesorgu president José María Romero and sign‑language interpreter Sara de la Rosa attended the presentation.

The mayor also visited the Las Piletas venue with Rafael Hidalgo, president of the Real Sociedad de Carreras de Caballos, to review preparations for the 181st edition of the city’s horse‑racing event. Enhancements include unified furniture, new signage and improved access for people with reduced mobility. The three‑day competition, declared of International Tourist Interest, is expected to boost local tourism and the economy.
