Sannio Acque water utility officially established in Benevento, Italy

A public‑private company called Sannio Acque was formally created on Monday at Palazzo Mosti in Benevento. The deed was signed by Pompilio Forgione, mayor of Solopaca and appointed president of the new firm, together with the mayors of Campoli del Monte Taburno and Campolattaro. The venture will manage the integrated water service for the Sannio area until 2051, with 55% of the capital held by the participating municipalities and 45% by Acea Acqua Spa, which will also appoint the general manager and CEO. Although Benevento’s mayor, Clemente Mastella, was not present, he endorsed the project, which follows a multi‑billion‑euro tender awarded in June. The company plans to start works on a new wastewater treatment plant in Benevento in September, aiming to extend water supply to peripheral districts.

The board includes public representatives Rino Caputo and Oreste Di Giacomo, while Acea will provide technical leadership through its appointed directors.
