Sanofi and Cheplapharm announce strategic medicine and manufacturing partnership
Sanofi and Cheplapharm have announced a strategic partnership in which Cheplapharm will acquire 20 mature medicines and three manufacturing sites from Sanofi. In exchange, Sanofi will receive a 26.4% equity stake in the German pharmaceutical company Cheplapharm.
The transaction includes the transfer of production facilities located in Csanyikvölgy, Hungary; Jurong, Singapore; and Ploërmel, France. These sites are specialized in manufacturing products such as the anticoagulant Lovenox/Clexane. The move is intended to allow Sanofi to simplify its portfolio and focus on therapeutic innovation while ensuring the continued availability of essential legacy medicines through Cheplapharm’s specialized expertise.
The commercial transfer of the medicine portfolio is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2027, with the full transaction, including the transfer of manufacturing sites, anticipated to be completed by the third quarter of 2027.
