Sanofi expands Anagni site focus to rare diseases

Sanofi is expanding the technological and scientific scope of its Anagni production site in Italy to focus on rare diseases, specifically lysosomal storage disorders. Marcello Cattani, President and CEO of Sanofi Italy and Malta, announced this new direction during an industry event in Anagni.

The facility, which has a history of producing lyophilized and liquid products, is also in an advanced stage of implementation and certification for the production of the Haemophilus influenzae vaccine. The Anagni site plays a significant role in the Lazio region's life sciences ecosystem, which contributes half of Italy's pharmaceutical exports.

Cattani emphasized the importance of collaboration with local and regional administrations to maintain global competitiveness. He noted that the pharmaceutical sector faces intense competition from the United States and China, highlighting the need for innovation to ensure Italy remains a key player in the global health market.
