Sanofi hosts summer program on healthcare language barriers

Sanofi Japan held a special summer educational program for high school and university students focused on the future of healthcare, specifically addressing the linguistic and cultural barriers faced by foreign patients.

As the number of foreign residents in Japan exceeded 4 million, the program highlighted the importance of overcoming communication gaps to ensure inclusive medical care. The event featured discussions on the ‘trust gap’ in healthcare and Sanofi’s global ‘A Million Conversations’ initiative, which aims to build trust with underserved communities.

Experts and Sanofi employees participated in panel discussions regarding the use of ‘Easy Japanese’ to simplify medical communication and the impact of cultural differences on medical diagnoses. Students engaged in workshops to explore how to mitigate these challenges and learned about various career paths within the pharmaceutical industry.
