Sanok hospital staff launch hunger strike over management crisis

Medical staff at the Samodzielny Publiczny Zespół Opieki Zdrowotnej (SP ZOZ) in Sanok, Poland, are conducting a hunger strike to protest management issues and the leadership of Director Wioletta Kacperska. The number of participants has grown significantly, with reports indicating approximately 50 employees are now involved in the protest.

The strikers have intensified their actions by consuming only water, having previously included juices and coffee. The physical toll of the protest has become severe, with several participants requiring emergency medical intervention and transport to the hospital's emergency department due to exhaustion. One individual was forced to end the strike due to deteriorating health.

Despite the hunger strike, employees continue to fulfill their professional duties and care for patients according to their scheduled shifts. The protesters cite a management crisis, a lack of dialogue with staff, concerns regarding patient safety, and legal actions taken against trade unions as primary reasons for their demands, which include the immediate dismissal of the hospital director.
