Sanok Hospital's Future Uncertain as Officials Await Staffing and Organizational Decisions

Vice‑starosta Bolesław Biskup said the top priority for the Sanok public hospital is to keep patient services running without interruption. He noted that no final decisions have been made regarding staff reductions or the future organisational form of the facility.

An audit revealed the hospital’s liabilities total about 218.7 million PLN, including significant debts to the Social Insurance Institution and suppliers of medicines and equipment. The report described the financial situation as critical and called for swift corrective measures. Biskup emphasized that the financial difficulties stem from systemic and organisational factors and that any staffing or restructuring actions will be preceded by detailed analyses to safeguard patient safety.

He added, “At this stage it is too early to speculate about possible personnel decisions,” and reiterated that the well‑being of patients remains the primary concern.
