SANParks invests R136.5 million in Addo Elephant National Park

South African National Parks (SANParks) has committed R136.5 million to upgrade facilities and infrastructure at Addo Elephant National Park. The investment aims to enhance the visitor experience, improve operational sustainability, and bring the park up to international standards.

Completed projects include eight modern family accommodation units, a new spa, and upgrades to bulk sewer and electrical infrastructure. Additional developments scheduled for completion by December 2026 include refurbished guest houses, a swimming pool, and a new 10-unit Community Lodge, which is expected to begin operations in January 2027.

To support long-term sustainability, a 705-kW grid-tied solar plant is slated for commissioning in January 2027. Road maintenance is also currently underway to strengthen the park’s tourism offering and support conservation objectives.
