Sanremo 2027 festival dates set and format tweaks under new host Stefano De Martino

The Italian music festival Sanremo will be held from 16 to 20 February 2027, as announced by the newly appointed host and artistic director Stefano De Martino on Instagram. De Martino replaces longtime presenter Carlo Conti and will lead the event after a transition at the 2026 edition.

RAI is reportedly evaluating several format changes for the 2027 edition. Proposals include dedicating one night to select Italy’s Eurovision Song Contest entrant, restructuring the five‑night schedule, and possibly allowing three separate winners – the overall festival champion, a cover‑song night winner, and a Eurovision‑selection winner. None of these plans have been confirmed officially.

The festival’s venue security has been settled after a dispute between RAI and the Sanremo municipality, with a new agreement guaranteeing the continuation of the competition at the Teatro Ariston for the coming years. In an interview, young artist Lorenzo Salvetti, winner of Amici, said he would consider participating but does not want the prospect to become an obsession.
