Sanremo Music Festival 2027 to feature three finals and more performance

Williams Di Liberatore, Rai’s Director of Prime Time Entertainment, has shared updates regarding the 2027 Sanremo Music Festival, which will be led by artistic director Stefano De Martino. Speaking at the 78th Prix Italia in L’Aquila, Di Liberatore detailed an evolution of the festival designed to provide a more international perspective.

Key structural changes for the 2027 edition include the introduction of three distinct finals and a new ‘performance evening.’ The schedule will also see the ‘cover evening’ moved to Thursday. To allow for a more expansive show, the number of competing artists will be reduced to 24, consisting of 23 contestants plus one from new proposals.

The new format aims to balance musical competition with broader performance elements, leveraging De Martino’s skills as a host. Additionally, the festival plans to increase focus on younger talent through dedicated segments, such as an ‘access’ area.
