Sanremo Padel Experience finals highlight rapid growth of padel in Liguria
The Sanremo Padel Experience has concluded its tour with the finals held in Sanremo, Italy. Developed in collaboration with the International Padel Federation, the event featured approximately one thousand players from fourteen different countries. The tournament focused on the NextGen category, aiming to promote young talent while boosting local tourism and the international profile of Sanremo.
Data from the International Padel Federation highlights a significant surge in the sport's popularity within the Liguria region. Between September 2021 and September 2026, the number of padel courts in Liguria increased by 166%, rising from 80 to 213. The number of clubs also grew by 155%. Italy currently ranks as the second country in the world for both the number of courts and active players.
Other regional sporting events were also noted, including the PallaPigna festival in Sanremo's historic center, the Sport Festival in Viareggio, and the Sports Gala in Montevarchi, which recognized local athletes and clubs for their social and competitive contributions.
