Sanriku BMX Stadium to host All Japan BMX Racing Championship

The 43rd All Japan BMX Racing Championship is scheduled to take place on October 17–18, 2026, at the Sanriku BMX Stadium in Ofunato, Iwate Prefecture. The venue, established in 2020 on the site of the former Horei Elementary School, serves as a hub for local youth sports development.

The opening ceremony on October 18 will feature singer-songwriter Hirari Sato, who will perform her original song ‘Mirai’—written in response to the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake—and sing the national anthem. The event will also include traditional Horei Shishimai lion dance performances and participation from JBMXF Ambassador Yui Hayakawa.

Twenty-three riders from the Tohoku region have already entered the competition, highlighting the growth of BMX in the area since the disaster recovery efforts began.
