Sanrio has announced that its character Kuromi will star in her first theatrical animated feature film, scheduled for release in Japan in 2027. The announcement was made on October 31, coinciding with the character's birthday.
Gaga will handle the planning and distribution of the film. Along with the announcement, Sanrio released a promotional visual and a special video featuring Kuromi and her companion, Baku. Details regarding the plot and production staff are expected to be released sequentially.
Since her debut in 2005, Kuromi has expanded her presence through various media, including short animations on YouTube and a major music debut as the artist “KUROMI” under Toy's Factory in October 2025. Sanrio noted that information regarding international releases will be provided once decided.
