Sant Cugat and Es Migjorn implement new heat‑wave safety measures

The Sant Cugat city council approved a motion, backed by the En Comú Podem group and all other parties except VOX, to strengthen heat‑wave and forest‑fire prevention. The plan expands the network of climate refuges, improves signage and opening hours, launches a municipal health‑advice campaign, and coordinates proactive monitoring of vulnerable residents such as the elderly, children, chronic‑ill patients, migrants and the homeless.

In the nearby town of Es Migjorn, officials moved the traditional jaleo of Sant Cristòfol forward by two hours and shortened the route to avoid the hottest part of the day. Additional precautions include shaded canopies, water points for horses, a hose for cooling, and a rescue truck on standby. Mayor Antonia Camps emphasized that all necessary measures are in place to protect both participants and animals during the forecast heat wave.
