Sant Cugat and Girona events adapt to weather forecasts

The Club Muntanyenc Sant Cugat has decided to proceed with the 67th edition of the Marxa Infantil this Sunday, October 18, despite forecasts for rain. While a red alert is expected to end early in the morning, Meteocat predicts rain in Sant Cugat until 5:00 PM. The organization is monitoring weather conditions closely, prioritizing the safety of children and families, and has advised participants to wear appropriate clothing and waterproof gear.

Due to African Swine Fever restrictions, this year's Marxa Infantil features an exceptional itinerary change. The 5.5-kilometer route will pass through Central Park and Turó de Can Mates instead of the traditional Collserola path.

In a separate event, the tenth edition of the Oncobike in Sant Gregori and Vall de Llémena successfully raised 57,500 euros for the Fundació Oncolliga Girona. To ensure participant safety amid storm forecasts, organizers modified the long-distance route from 180 to 130 kilometers by removing sections that crossed a stream during high-risk hours. The event saw 500 participants across 83 teams, bringing the total funds raised by the initiative since 2016 to over half a million euros.
