Sant Cugat and Sant Julià de Lòria host elderly appreciation weeks

Various municipalities are hosting events to celebrate elderly citizens and promote active aging.

In Sant Cugat, the 20th edition of the ‘Setmana de la Gent Gran’ (Elderly Week) is being held from September 28 to October 2. Coinciding with International Day of Older Persons, the program includes cultural, recreational, and reflective activities. The initiative aims to advocate for the right to age with dignity, autonomy, and social connection, focusing on issues such as housing, information access, and combating loneliness. A featured event includes a lecture by philosopher Victòria Camps titled ‘What to do to age well. Keys to quality aging’.

Similarly, Sant Julià de Lòria has launched its own Elderly Week, featuring workshops in music, creativity, and cooking, as well as sports and cultural visits. The program is designed to encourage social interaction and healthy lifestyles among seniors, with organizers using annual surveys to tailor activities to the participants' interests. Participation is expected to reach approximately 250 people.
