Sant Cugat bans electric scooter riding on key pedestrian streets
The Sant Cugat City Council has installed new signage to reinforce a total ban on riding electric scooters through the Santa Maria and Santiago Rusiñol streets. These two areas are major pedestrian thoroughfares in the city center.
While previous regulations allowed scooter use during non-crowded periods, the municipal government is moving toward a total prohibition to improve coexistence and safety. Deputy Mayor for Mobility, Cristina Paraira, stated that the measure follows incidents involving falls and collisions, particularly affecting elderly pedestrians. Users are permitted to pass through these streets only if they dismount and walk their vehicles. Failure to comply with these regulations may result in sanctions by the Local Police.
