Sant Cugat municipal council approves democratic memory plan and flood relief motions
The Sant Cugat municipal council has approved the Democratic Memory Master Plan 2026-2030. The initiative aims to preserve historical memory regarding the victims of Francoist repression, emphasizing that recovering this history is a matter of justice and dignity rather than mere nostalgia.
Separately, the political formation CUP has proposed a shock plan to address flood risks in the city. The motion calls for direct financial aid to residents affected by recent heavy rains in September and October to cover home repairs and essential goods. The proposal also demands a diagnosis of high-risk areas, such as Carrer de Sant Jordi and Can Trabal, and the implementation of a sustainable urban drainage master plan to prepare for future extreme weather events caused by climate change.
