Sant Cugat reports significant income growth and internal disparities
New data from the National Statistics Institute (INE) for 2024 shows that Sant Cugat has become one of the wealthiest municipalities in Catalonia, with an average net income per person of 26,306 euros. This represents a 6.3% increase from the previous year and a total growth of 24.5% since 2019.
Despite the overall rise, significant economic disparities exist between different census sections within the municipality. The highest income is recorded in the Arxiu area, reaching 40,089 euros per person, while the area surrounding the Monastery reports a much lower average of 16,852 euros. This creates a gap of over 23,000 euros between the wealthiest and least wealthy zones.
Sant Cugat ranks as the fourth wealthiest municipality in Catalonia and the second among cities with more than 20,000 inhabitants. Its income levels significantly exceed those of neighboring cities in the Vallès Occidental region, such as Rubí, Terrassa, and Sabadell.
