Sant Llorenç school begins modular classroom transition for major renovation
The CEIP Mestre Guillem Galmés school in Sant Llorenç des Cardassar has begun transitioning students to modular classrooms to facilitate a comprehensive renovation of its main building. The project, declared a matter of strategic interest, involves an investment exceeding 2.7 million euros to improve the safety, functionality, and overall conditions of the educational facilities.
The need for intervention was identified in November 2023 following inspections by the Minister of Education and Universities, Antoni Vera, and the manager of IBISEC, Mateu Suñer. These inspections led to the preventive closure of several classrooms on the first floor due to safety concerns.
During the construction period, which is expected to begin between late September and early October, teaching activities will continue normally within the new modular units. Students from the fifth and sixth grades are currently being accommodated in prefabricated classrooms located near the local sports center.
