Sant Pau del Camp church hosts shamanic ritual concert

The Romanesque church of Sant Pau del Camp in Barcelona recently hosted a ‘ritual concert’ by Kuyay Santosha, an artist who identifies as a composer, singer, and music therapist. Santosha’s work incorporates shamanism, Tantra, and New Age spirituality, utilizing ancestral instruments like shamanic drums to provide ‘healing sounds’ intended to promote spiritual connection and introspection.

The artist expressed surprise at securing the venue, describing the opportunity to use a Catholic church for her performance as ‘truly extraordinary and rare.’ The authorization for the event was granted by the parish priest, Joan Cabot Barbany, who holds various diocesan positions despite having public stances that diverge from Church Magisterium.

Sant Pau del Camp is a prominent Romanesque church within the Archdiocese of Barcelona, which is led by Cardinal Juan José Omella.
